Only this Hindu Festival follows the English Calendar.

This Hindu festival falls on a fixed date almost every year. Well, it is Makar Sankranti mostly celebrated on the 14th of January every year. In Maharashtra, it is the day when people exchange tilgul तिळगुळ made from sesame seeds and jaggery and wish each other ‘til gul ghya ani god bola’, तिळगुळ घ्या आणि गोड बोला, which means, accept this tilgul (sweet) and speak kind words.

tilgul

Striking the correct balance between soft and hard.

At Ruchkar, we  not only spread the sweet taste of ‘tilache ladu’ तिळाचे लाडू but also enjoy our interaction with our clients. Our ladu made from polished til and jaggery strike the right balance between soft and sturdy, to give you that crunchy granular feeling when you chew on them. At the same time thanks to the special jaggery we use, you don’t get that gooey feeling or bits and pieces sticking in your mouth.

What you get is the rich sweet taste and flavour of til and jaggery with every bite. And what’s more important, you also get a fair bit of nutrition. Here’s a nutrition chart of every 100 gm of til ladu for your reference:

What goes inside til ladu

For our tilache ladu, we use the best polished til, ghee, jaggery(chikkigur), crushed peanuts and cardamom powder (elaichi powder). The vital ingredient is Chikkigur which holds up all the ingredients together in a ladu. At Ruchkar, we prepare the jaggery syrup to the intermediate stage to make our ladus a bit harder than soft but at the same time, easy on your teeth.

Taste and health go hand in hand

Til is known to have many health benefits, including being good for digestion due to its high fibre content. It is also known to be good for the skin due to its high zinc content that helps in the production of collagen, which gives the skin added elasticity.

Til is useful not only for individual health but is also suitable for social health as festivals like Makar Sankranti, Lohri and others to promote social bonding with the message of Tilgul ghy aani god bola.

So drop by Ruchkar around the 14th of January to take home these beautiful tilache laddus for your family, friends, and neighbours. All and kids will like these yummy laddus and will surely ask for more.
